I recently took my kids to their very first college football game, and it just so happened to be the Iowa vs. Northwestern matchup at the iconic Wrigley Field by my house.
From the moment we stepped into the stadium, it was like entering a whole new world seeing it through their eyes. My kids, bouncing filled with excitement, were ready to soak in every bit of the experience (and my wallet with Wrigley food prices).
Now, let me tell you, navigating through a packed stadium with two young, energetic kids felt like a game in itself. We zigzagged through the crowds, our own little football team, on a mission to find our seats and Chicago hotdogs.
The game itself was a rollercoaster of emotions (If you know anything about Iowa’s offense… then you know what I mean). It was a low-scoring affair, but my kids were in awe of the action on the field, and I couldn't help but relish in the magic of their first college football game (as a former college linebacker, I can’t believe it took me this long to take them to a game).
Taking my kids to Wrigley Field for this game was not just a sports event; it was a memory in the making. I know that at this time of year, our calendars are filled with budget meetings, end-of-year business travel, OKRs, and strategic planning. But take time to soak up new experiences with your family and friends. Seeing the wonder in my kids eyes as they take in the sights and sounds of college football is a memory we will all have that will far outweigh any bulletpoint on your OKRs.
So, here's to the next generation of football fans and to cherishing these moments that bring families closer together!
